Counterfeit Kit September Reveal and Blog Hop

Happy September 1st and welcome to my stop on the Counterfeit Kit Challenge September Reveal and Blog Hop! You should have arrived here from Lynnette's blog and I'm sure you enjoyed her clever take on our inspiration kit.

This month we are using the Studio Calico "Lost River" kit as our inspiration:

Studio Calico "Lost River" Kit
This kit has some lovely neutral colors and a few of my favorite patterns (circles and stripes) and it's a refreshing change from the bright colors of summer.  I actually have this kit but resisted using any of it for my counterfeit.  I'd intended to keep to the neutral color scheme but somehow a few more pinks snuck into my version.  Let's take a look at what I put together...

This is my September CKC kit, "Here and There".  I confess that I still struggle with names for my kits but I've found that I can usually pull something from an embellishment piece, which is what I did in this case.  Here's a closer look at my papers:

I stayed close to the inspiration with the neutral gray patterns, and then included most of the remaining patterns with a change in color: a brown woodgrain instead of the black and white, a bold navy and gold print instead of the chalkboard-looking text, a small text print instead of the photo-realistic paper with the large text, a looser yellow print and a navy circle pattern instead of the gold glitter one.  I translated the inspiration's ombre pink stripe into two separate papers: an ombre pink print with tiny gold stars, and a paper with several stripes of small patterned rectangles.

For embellishments, I selected gold rub-ons in place of the gold alpha in the inspiration kit, a few different word/phrase stickers, three rolls of washi tape, a die-cut pack and some vellum hearts instead of the vellum circles in the inspiration kit.

My kit also includes a few stamp sets, some tags in place of the envelopes included in the inspiration kit, a sheet of circle and heart stickers instead of the sequins from the "Lost River" kit, and some chipboard pieces.

So that's my take on the inspiration this month.  You'll want to visit Clair next and see the lovely kit she's sharing today - she chose our inspiration this month so I'm sure she put together something very special.  Here's the complete list for the hop in case you missed a stop along the way:

  4. Gorgeous kit Susan, I love your clean and fresh style and you really stuck close to the original kit. The papers look great and there's nothing wrong with adding a touch more pink :) I love the rub ons and can't wait to see what you make with your kit.

  6. A little bit of pink usually finds it's way into my kits too :)

I love the feel of this kit. It may not be exactly like the inspiration kit, but it has that same summer-to-autumn feel.
